Normes et réglementations
Avec une trentaine d’autres pays, le Canada participe activement aux travaux de normalisation internationale sur les nanotechnologies.
Des chercheurs, physiciens, chimistes, ingénieurs, fabricants, représentants d’organismes de réglementation et d’ONG, ainsi que des utilisateurs potentiels conçoivent en effet des normes qui favoriseront la création de marchés internationaux pour les nanomatériaux, leurs composantes et tous autres produits issus des nanotechnologies.
C’est l’Association canadienne de normalisation (ACNOR), accréditée par le Conseil canadien des normes (CCN), qui pilote le comité canadien de normalisation sur les nanotechnologies. Le CAC/SCC sur les nanotechnologies sert de tribune pour favoriser les échanges et la participation du Canada aux travaux d’élaboration des normes internationales.
Sur la scène internationale, le Canada a été désigné en 2005 comme pays responsable de l’un des quatre groupes de travail du comité technique 229 de l’ISO sur les nanotechnologies :
- GT 1 : terminologie et nomenclature dirigé par le Canada
- GT 2 : métrologie et caractérisation des nanoparticules dirigié par le Japon
- GT 3 : santé, sécurité et aspects environnementaux dirigé par les États-Unis
- GT 4 : caractéristiques des matériaux dirigé par la Chine
Le comité technique 113 de la Commission internationale électrotechnique sur les nanotechnologies a quant à lui été mis sur pied en 2006.
