Mission and objectives
NanoQuébec is a non-profit organization funded by the MDEIE (Quebec department of economic development, innovation and export trade). Its mission is to support nanotechnology innovation with a view to contributing to sustainable economic growth in Quebec. NanoQuébec serves as a hub that initiates and guides collaborative activities and provides financial support for technology transfer initiatives.
Through its three program types (infrastructure, research funding and mobilization), NanoQuébec seeks to :
Infrastructure: Consolidate research capabilities
- Support university and industry research in nanotechnology by facilitating access to high tech equipment (QNI)
- Promote Quebec’s know-how and competencies to industry and the international community
- Contribute to the training of qualified personnel required by both industry and universities
Funding: Accelerate industrial nanotechnology development
- Develop innovations while working to ensure a significant level of industrial activity
- Strengthen ties between research and industry in order to meet new technological challenges
- Establish Quebec as an international pole in select nanotechnology niches
- Contribute to growth in the number of highly qualified individuals in leading-edge fields
Community: Mobilize all key players in nanotechnology development
- Increase the level of economic spinoffs by mobilizing and growing the community
- Accelerate the industrial adoption of nanotechnology research findings
- Position Quebec internationally to consolidate its leadership (Micro/Nano and materials)
